The model of momma Hannah’s faith

May 9

As we celebrate our mothers and mother figures this Sunday, pastor Matt takes a few minutes to discuss the wonder and wisdom of motherhood with a few godly women of Burnt Hickory. We also can learn about faith practically lived out by studying...

Love | Hope | Family | Community

Our mission is to reach everyone around us with the hope of Christ. We are a church founded on building strong families and focused on impacting our community.

We want to show and receive God’s love to those around us, and we live that out practically every day. We strive to bring hope by meeting physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of everyone we come in contact with. We love fiercely, like a family, because everyone is included and our Father loves us all. We’re building biblical community by seeking God’s Word, believing in His promises, and applying what we learn every day.

Our hope is that you and your family find a home with us where you can learn, grow, live, and thrive in Christ Jesus. We’re a multi-generational church with something to offer everyone in your family. Join us for a Sunday morning worship service, and take the next step in your journey with us!

Our Vision & Values

Kenya Ministry Center Building Project

Ten years ago, Burnt Hickory Baptist partnered with Peter Abungu and Swahiba Youth Network to make an impact and minister to people living in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. Over the years this partnership has grown into a ministry that not only meets the needs of those living in the slums but is a lighthouse for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Many lives have been touched, changed, and saved through our efforts.

From providing children’s ministry events, student camps, discipleship and purity programs for teens, feeding thousands of needy families and even hosting Pastor training events our footprint for God in the slums is larger than ever. People are accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior on a weekly basis. Peter and his team are working around the clock to share the gospel with a lost and hurting people.

It’s now time to step up our ministry there in the slums. We will purchase land and begin construction on the Kenya Ministry Center which will include ministry offices, classrooms, and a large 200 seat worship space. As part of this project, our goal is to also plant a church in Kibera where people can come together as the body of Christ to worship and grow. The Kenya Ministry Center will also house the Swahiba Youth Networks offices and provide a place for all the children’s and youth events and programs. It will be a space to train Pastors from all over the Nairobi area as well.

The Kenya Ministry Center will also be available to be rented by other groups and organizations and will allow the ministry to generate income and become more self-sufficient. It will be both salt and light in the community, and further our initiative of reaching the families of Kenya for Christ.
