We invite your family to countdown to Christmas with us as we celebrate God and the good gifts Christ brings. Advent is an intentional time to make room for and prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Each week during the advent season, we will provide devotional material, accompanying verses and jumping off points for prayer for you and your family. There are many ways you can join us this season! DAY TWO
- Psalm 29:11 says this:
The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.
- Daily discussion question: Why is peace a blessing?
- Daily prayer: Thank God for the strength He gives and His blessing of peace.
DAY THREE
- Isaiah 53:5 says this:
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
- Daily discussion question: How does the punishment Jesus suffered bring us peace?
- Daily prayer: Thank God for sending Jesus to take sin's punishment to bring us peace.
DAY FOUR
- John 14:27 says this:
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
- Daily discussion question: How does the peace Jesus promises to give help us not be troubled or afraid?
- Daily prayer: Thank Jesus for leaving us His peace so we don't have to be afraid.
DAY FIVE
- John 16:33 says this:
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
- Daily discussion question: Does following Jesus mean we won't have trouble? How can we have peace in the middle of our struggles?
- Daily prayer: Thank Jesus for the peace He gives in the middle of our troubles.
DAY SIX
- Philippians 4:4-8 says this:
Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things.
- Daily discussion question: What should we do when we feel anxious?
- Daily prayer: Thank God that even when we don't understand, we can have peace knowing that God hears and answers our prayers.

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my lovie. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

- Daily prayer: Thank Jesus for His great love, and for the completeness of joy that can be found in Him.
DAY FIVE
- 1 Peter 1:8-9 says this:
Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even thought you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
- Daily discussion question: How does salvation fill us with inexpressible and glorious joy?
- Daily prayer: Thank Jesus for the gift of salvation and the inexpressible and glorious joy He brings.
DAY SIX
- Romans 15:13 says this:
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope bye the power of the Holy Spirit.
- Daily discussion question: Who fills us with joy and peace?
- Daily prayer: Thank the God of hope for filling us with joy and peace as we trust in Him.

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

- Daily prayer: Praise God for His love for us and ask His help to love others as He loves.
DAY SIX
- 1 Corinithians 13:4-7 says this:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
- Daily discussion question: How do we recognize love?
- Daily prayer: Praise God for his demonstration of this love and ask for His help as we share this love with others.
