Arts Academy Faculty

The faculty and staff of the Arts Academy are trained musicians and/or dancers and experienced classroom instructors.  

Rosemary Turner

Director

Instructor, S2S Dance Academy

Rosemary S. Turner serves as Director and administrator the Arts Academy and Sole to Soul Dance Academy. With over 20 years of teaching experience, Rosemary has developed her own preschool and early elementary dance curricula, incorporating traditional dance techniques with fun, creative stories and games to intrigue every dancer.  A dancer from the age of four, Rosemary trained in ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, and character.  She is a member of Southern Association of Dance Masters and serves on their board of directors. Rosemary was the director of the Steps of Faith Dance Ministry in Tucker, Georgia from 2001 to 2007.  She has been a Christian for over 30 years and a member of BHBC since 2007.

Paige Garwood

Instructor, Arts Academy

Paige Garwood is a graduate of the Armed Forces School of Music and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services and a Master’s Degree in Education.  His final degree was finished in August of 2016 (just after his 60th birthday), graduating with his MFA in music composition from the Vermont College of Fine Arts.  After serving in the United States Navy for 16 years and working as a communication engineer for 10 years, Paige left the corporate world to pursue music, teaching private and group lessons in various locations in metro Atlanta.  He has also composed for local theater, vocal ensembles, string quartets, chamber music groups, and our own Sole to Soul Dance Academy.  In addition, Paige teaches English as a Second Language to elementary-age students in China.

Glenda Garwood

Instructor, Arts Academy

Glenda Garwood was introduced to music as a young child, listening to the sounds of her father giving voice lessons and her mother playing piano. She taught preschool for many years before redirecting her focus back to music in 2004, when she began teaching music to homeschool children. She currently teaches piano, ukulele, and recorder.  Glenda is passionate about helping children discover a love for music and develop their own unique gifts.

Madison Knotts

Instructor, S2S Dance Academy

Madison Knotts was born and raised in Kennesaw, Georgia, graduating from East Paulding High School in 2014 and Kennesaw State University with a major in Early Childhood Education in 2018. Her dance training began at Daystar Dance Academy then continued at Powerhouse Dance Center, training and competing in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, and hip-hop. In addition, she has taken multiple master classes from top artists in the dance industry. Madison was also a member of the East Paulding High School Varsity Dance Team, winning many state and national titles in Jazz, Pom and Hip-Hop. Madison is a graduate of the Sole to Soul Dance Ministry, performing on Sunday mornings as well as community outreach events. She has been a member of Burnt Hickory Baptist church since a baby and came to know Christ at the age of 8.

Courtney McCowen

Instructor, S2S Dance Academy

Courtney McCowen began her training in classical ballet with Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre at a very young age. Her pre-professional training included The Georgia Ballet, School of American Ballet, Pittsburgh Youth Ballet, Orlando Ballet and Fiona Fairrie Ballet Conservatory. During her training she received private coaching with renowned ballet master, Fiona Fairrie, which led to YAGP competitions and earned a scholarship with Orlando Ballet professional company as a trainee. She has been a guest artist in demi-soloist and corps de ballet roles with professional ballet companies. Now with more than 15 years of training and 5 years teaching, she enjoys working with children and pre-professional young adults for building a strong foundation in technique and instills discipline that will carry far beyond a career in ballet. She loves students as much as she loves dance and teaching, while cultivating in her students the desire to do their best. Through this beloved art form, as a teacher, Courtney shares her passion, knowledge and personal experience to inspire students to become the best person they can be with the belief that through Christ all things are possible.

Alex Coop

Instructor, S2S Dance Academy

Alex Coop has been dancing for over ten years, beginning her dance education at Stegmann’s School of Performing Arts.  She studied ballet, pointe, hip hop, jazz, modern, tap, character, and musical theatre.  As a member of the competition team, she earned high awards, including special judge’s awards for her senior solo performance.  After a brief hiatus after high school, Alex has rejoined the dance world with a new passion for sharing her love of dance with a new generation.  Alex accepted Christ at an early age and now serves to bring others to salvation through Vacation Bible School, local mission trips, and other church opportunities.

Abigail Hamilton

Teacher Apprentice,

S2S Dance Academy

 

Abby Hamilton is the newest member of our dance faculty, joining us this season as a teacher apprentice.  She has been dancing since the age of two, first with Studio Dance, Inc. and most recently with Sole to Soul.  With a dance background in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and pointe, Abby has served as an assistant teacher in several of our younger classes over the last four years.  A recent graduate of Georgia Cyber Academy (earning a 4.2 GPA), she is now following her passion to teach children and pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education.  Abby is a life-long member of Fortified Hills Baptist Church, where she sings with the Sunday morning Worship Team.  She accepted Christ at the age of 7.

Hayley Turner

Social Media, S2S Dance Academy

 

Hayley Turner is the Marketing and Social Media Manager for The Arts Academy. Raised in Dallas, GA, she graduated from North Paulding High School in 2015 and from Georgia Southern University with a major in Hospitality Management and a minor in Marketing in December 2018. Hayley is a graduate of the Sole to Soul Dance Academy, performed on Sunday mornings as well as participated in community outreach events. She is excited to use her experience as an event planner and marketing guru to benefit The Arts Academy. She has been a member of Burnt Hickory Baptist Church since 2007 and accepted Christ at the age of 8. 

Monika Pineda

Guest Instructor/Choreographer,

S2S Dance Academy

Monika Pineda is a guest instructor and choreographer for the Sole to Soul Dance Academy.  Born and raised in Poland, Monika was a member of the Polish National Gymnastic Team. As a teenager, she performed and competed across Europe as a member of the Modern Jazz Dance Company, Paradox, earning titles during the European Championship in Showdance Formations (1992) and the World Championship in Showdance Formations (1993). Since then, Monika has continued to dance in theatre performances and worked as an instructor, choreographer, and manager of various dance teams at the Olsztyn Community Center in Poland. Though she and her family now reside in Mississippi, she frequently returns to S2S for guest appearances. She has been a a child of God since 2001.
