What You Can Expect

We welcome you and your child to this ministry of our church. We join with you in one of your vitally important tasks - the nurturing of your child's development.

It is astonishing how few years a child is in the home and how little time our church has to minister to them as children. Because of this, we have developed some goals and standards for ourselves in this ministry area.

Our goals include providing your child with the physical care and spiritual training which will build within him/her the right conclusions about the church, God and Jesus. We consider it an honor to help you build a strong foundation in the life of your preschooler.

What to Bring

When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items: a minimum of two (2) disposable diapers (no cloth diapers), a complete change of clothes in case of an accident, and a bottle of milk, formula, juice or water - this is a good practice even for nursing mothers.

Please label all personal items - diaper bags, bottles, pacifiers, sippee cups, etc - with your child's last name before arriving at your child's class.

When You Arrive at Your Child's Room

A teacher will meet you at the door to receive your child, diaper bag, and any other necessary items. Please note on the sign-in sheet any information which will help in caring for your child, such as feeding and sleeping times, allergies and special needs.

You will be given a pager which has an identifying number on it - this number should be recorded on the sign-in sheet. The pager will vibrate if you are paged.  Please present the pager upon return to your child's classroom. We will verify that your security badge matches your child's badge and then release your child to you. A child will not be released to a parent without presentation of the pager and security badge identification.

Saying Good-bye

After you have completed the check-in process, simply wave a quick good-bye and go to worship or LifeGroupl. As you know, it is normal for little ones to cry when leaving a parent. This does not last long, and separation becomes easier over time with consistency. Teachers will immediately create interest in a toy or activity and give assurance that you will return. If your child cries for an extended period of time, we will page you.

Pick-Up Procedures

Please make sure that all your child's personal items have been returned to you before leaving the premises. Lost and found items will be retained for a short time. Items not claimed after one month are donated to the Paulding Pregnancy Center.

What We Give Your Child

Snacks
-
Snacks are provided to our new walkers and toddlers. The food items consist of water and one of the following: cheerios, soda crackers, goldfish, ritz crackers or shortbread animal crackers. Please inform your child's teacher of any allergies. "Allergy Alert" bracelets are also available at the Welcome Center for your child to wear or place on their bag. The best policy is to always remind the teacher and to place an allergy bracelet on your child or their bag each time they are brought to the Preschool area.

Curriculum - We believe even our littlest ones can learn! Regular learning experiences are planned and lessons are reinforced with songs, Bible thoughts, and supervised activities designed for the ability of the children in mind. The Beginner's Bible is used in all departments.

Playground

Two-year-olds are scheduled for a fifteen to twenty minute time on the outdoor, age-appropriate playground as weather permits.

Parent Pager Information

Vibrating pagers are provided, one per family, to the parent signing-in the child. If you have children in separate rooms, you will receive one pager and the pager number will be recorded on all sign-in sheets.

The parent who accepts the pager needs to have it on their person at all times while away from the child. If there is an emergency or any problem involving the child, the pager will vibrate and the parent will need to come to the Park Street Junior Welcome Center and ask what the problem involves.

The pager only has a radius that includes the church campus. Therefore, if a parent needs to leave the premises while the child is in the Preschool area, we will not be able to reach the parent.
