What is Orphan Care?
The ministry to orphans and vulnerable children has been established to share opportunities to care for children both domestically and globally, both short-term and long-term. Our goal is to create awareness and inspire each person to take one action.
How can I help?
There are 3 different levels of involvement:
Level 1 is to meet one need by creating a child's hygiene kit, taking dinner to the local children's shelter or donating to the church adoption grant that helps fund adoptions. These would be great opportunities for LifeGroups to become involved.
Level 2 goes a little deeper. You can encourage one child by becoming a mentor, tutoring or going to serve an overseas orphanage.
Level 3 is opening your home and becoming a family for a child through fostercare, adoption, orphan hosting or respite.
To stay up to date on opportunities, events and emergency needs, email Doug Chatham ( ) to receive our monthly orphan care e-newsletter. If you would like to connect with our network of volunteers, advocates, mentors, foster, adoptive, host and respite families, request to join our BHBC Orphan Care Facebook group.
Tell me more!
Discover Orphan Care is Burnt Hickory's quarterly informational meeting that will present many ways to involve yourself, your Lifegroup or your family in meeting the needs of orphans and vulnerable children. At the meeting, we will review the orphan care guidebook and our network of volunteers, advocates, mentors, foster, adoptive, host and respite families will be available to answer additional questions.

How can I make monetary donations?
Did you know that one of the greatest (if not the greatest) barrier to families in our church adopting is how to fund their adoption? By contributing to our church adoption fund, you can help Burnt Hickory families bring their children home. Every dollar makes a huge difference. Donate today to reduce the financial barrier that is keeping waiting children from entering loving families. Your generosity will change the lives of waiting children. Email Chip Vincent with questions on how to set this up.
