Local Ministry Opportunities
Unite, being a ministry of Burnt Hickory, has countless opportunities for service within the Body of Christ. There is always a need for nursery workers, middle school and high school lifegroup teachers, talkback group leaders for middle school kids on Wednesday nights, choir members, parking ministry workers and countless others. Whatever you have a passion for within the Church, there is some form of opportunity for you to get involved. We love being just a part of a bigger body at Burnt Hickory.
Mission Opportunities
Unite has a passion for missions. This comes in many different forms, but the reason behind each one is the same. We want to shout the glory of God in our community and around the World. With that being said, here are some ways that we are striving to do just that.
Homeless: Every other Saturday a group from Unite goes down to Marietta with food that was either prepared or purchased with an offering we take on Sunday mornings from time to time. This group doesn’t go to a homeless shelter or a food kitchen; they set up in a park and meet these men and women where they are, feeding them not only physically but, more importantly, spiritually.
Alabama: After the tornadoes in Alabama this past spring, being so close to home, we have had two mission trips across the border to help rebuild the towns the storms erased. This is an ongoing mission. God has laid on our hearts the desire to help the victims of this storm, always remembering that the mission at hand is not houses but the kingdom of God. James tells us that if we do not meet the physical needs of people then we have no right to try to meet their spiritual need of Jesus Christ. More trips to Alabama are in the future.
KSU: Unite has the privilege of being a part of a multi-church effort to do campus missions and ministry on the campus of Kennesaw State University. We love seeing the body come together, as Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians, “. . . being the same in thought and purpose.” Unite and other churches in our area have a passion to see God’s glory shine on KSU. We do this in a basic form, by sending out our own students into the lives of others on campus and let Jesus invade the hearts of the lost. Once relationships are formed, we intentionally form groups of these new friends to study the Word of God together. Many of these are occurring throughout the school year.
International: There is an opportunity for an international mission trip during the spring break of KSU. More information to come!
These are the “opportunities” Unite has in place for missions, but we are a group of individuals who fully believe everyday life is a mission. Opportunities to show this lost and dying world who the Savior is are daily occurrences in each individual’s life. Be light!
